Just watched this summer’s hottest animated film here last weekend. It’s called 哪吒之魔童降世 (Ne Zha) and it’s quite nice. Perhaps not that incredible like most fandom people indicate (I got some issues with its pacing and dialogues), but still a hugely phenomenal one and I quite recommend it. In case you didn’t know, it is adapted from 封神演义 (Investiture of the Gods/Fengshen Yanyi), a famous Chinese gods-and-demons novel, but is made with new concepts. If you liked 大圣归来 (Monkey King: Hero is Back), this one surely will satisfy you. I believe an animated Chinese mythology universe is under development. Let the hype be higher!
My fav character is actually our evil leopard uncle 申公豹, who acts as the dragon prince 敖丙’s mentor. His character development is great and he looks really rad when he swings his magical whip! Most funny is, he is an elegant stammerer in this story and the voicing is just so good XD So I must doodle him and his cinnamon roll prince student. Not that I didn’t like main characters, but hey, antagonist as he is, 申公豹 is the most stable character without too much stupid moves there ;)
